SUPPORT THE PROMOTION OF SUSTAINABILITY STORIES

Please could you help? Click to donate via the Paypal button to your right. You can do so without having an existing account of your own. For those who prefer not to use paypal, you can email mojoveloproject@gmail.com to get details of a bank account you can transfer directly to. For our South African friends, this will be a S.African account to avoid nasty international bank fees.

We really understand if you prefer not to donate. Later in the project, we will likely run much more ambitious fundraising campaigns in support of worthy African causes that we identify en route. By profiling and promoting African innovations and sustainability solutions, we hope to assist the people we meet in growing their businesses, social-ecological enterprises, and community projects.

WHY DO WE REQUIRE FUNDING?

We believe in our project which is why we have left our jobs and already invested over 10,000 USD of our personal savings towards it. Although we are currently seeking corporate sponsorship and have applied to a number of expedition grant-making bodies, we are still short of meeting our total project budget which after accounting for essential equipment, visa fees, insurance, and modest daily living expenses, amounts to over 20,000 USD.

There are a few direct project costs where your support would be immensely valuable in helping us to make MoJo Velo a success.

HOW WILL DONATIONS BE SPENT?

TRANSLATION COSTS:

We want to ensure that interviewees can speak in their mother tongues. Imagine how much more fluent you would be speaking in your first language than in any other one you have learnt since. Whenever possible, we will seek to procure informal local translation services. In the editing suite, we will pay for formal translation.  Estimated cost: 1,500 USD (23,000 ZAR; 1,000 GBP)

IPHONE: PURCHASED!

Luckily, Hamish has an iPhone and a Macbook Pro. Thanks to your kind donations before we left we were able to purchase a second iPhone. This allows us to film independently of one another, thereby greatly increasing our productivity. It would also allow us to create engaging dual perspective shots during interviews and in other situations. We will not keep the phone. We pledge that when the trip is over, we will donate it to a charity we meet along the way. Cost: 1000 USD (15 000 ZAR; 681 GBP).
